Yarrow Hydrosol - Master of the Blood - Your First Aid Kit Master

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a bitter, pungent tonic and a wound healer, it is a circulatory stimulant and an astringent. It is a paradoxical herb with a wide list of herbal actions. 

Yarrow Hydrosol is a wonderful addition to your natural First Aid Kit as a topical application to clean wounds and to stop bleeding. Yarrow is known as 'Master of the Blood', for a number of reasons mostly because of its alterative action to 'alter the condition of the blood. It has a tonifying (astringent) effect on tissues that are lax and loose and in need of tightening. Yarrow is a vulnerary, which means it helps wounds to heal. Yarrow is cleansing, disinfecting and also helps to move circulation. It is very efficient for bringing on menses, due to it's pungent nature which helps to stimulate the circulation of blood, relieving stagnation, while draining fluids down and out. 

As if this wasn't enough, Yarrow is also very helpful to bring blood to the surface and to stimulate sweating during a fever. It is very effective to soothe a sore throat. Yarrow opens channels of elimination and to clean and move the blood.

Yarrow is used both internally and externally for many different types of inflammations, wounds and burns. In addition, the aromatic oils in Yarrow have antimicrobial and anti fungal properties, which make it very useful for infections.

Safety: It is generally recommended to avoid the internal use of Yarrow (tea and hydrosol) during pregnancy as it can cause uterine contractions.
